For South Metro Fire Rescue Board
District 7

Hello, I am Amber Misgen. A wife, homeschool mom, engineer, HOA President, treasurer for a nonprofit, and hopefully your District 7 Board member.

My family is blessed to call Parker, Colorado home and I am excited for the opportunity to serve my community and the first responders and staff of the South Metro Fire Rescue Protection District as a member of the board from District 7.

The men and women of SMFR serve our community in many ways. They risk their personal safety - running towards danger when the rest of us are running away.

As a board member, I will make decisions that honor the hard earned tax dollars that fund the district, honor our first responders, and work together with my fellow board members to keep SMFR the first class organization it is.

What Does a Board Member Do?

Review and create policy.

Manage one employee, the Fire Chief.

Approve budget items over $500,000.

Review the budget each month.

Disaster declarations.

Long - range financial planning.

Financial reports and audits.

Fire Hoses

What is South Metro Fire Rescue?

A Special District that provides:

Fire Protection.

Ambulance and Emergency Services.

Enforcement of Fire Codes.

Hazardous Material Response.

After graduating from Colorado School of Mines in 2003, Amber had the opportunity to travel across the country as a geotechnical engineer for a consulting company focusing on water resources projects. For the last 7 years, her career has focused on dam safety including developing and exercising Emergency Action Plans with dam owners and emergency responders from State and Local agencies.

As an engineering project manager, she is familiar with large project budgets and hopes to bring her engineering design, construction management, and budget experience in service to SMFR as an engaged Board member.

For the past 9 years, Amber has been working part time which allows her time to homeschool her daughter, enjoy the great outdoors - hiking and horseback riding, and serve the community. Amber also serves as President of her neighborhood HOA, and treasurer for a non-profit.

Amber hopes to represent Parker and SMFR citizens and South Metro Fire Rescue Protection District first responders and staff as a member of the board from District 7 and would appreciate your vote in the May election.
